Questions?????

QUESTION- Do you tranquilize the pets?
ANSWER- NO.  I never tranquilize your pets.

QUESTION- Do I need to make an appointment?
ANSWER-Yes, please call ahead. There are times when it is just impossible to get your pet in on short notice. Please call to make sure we have an available time slot.  Holidays are extremely busy times. You WILL need to call ahead.

QUESTION- Will my dog be kept in a crate or kennel while it is there?
ANSWER-Possibly...Yes, depending on the time the groom is finished and the time you pick up your pet.  That is the best way to ensure the safety of your pet while it is here.  Your pet’s safety and well-being is our top priority!

QUESTION-Will my dog be taken outside while it is being groomed?
ANSWER- No, it is usually not necessary.  It is unlikely they will need to potty during the 2 hour groom time they are with me .  The safety of your pet is always a consideration if they must taken outside for a potty walk.
So, I remind you:
Please walk your pet before bringing them into the shop.
Please remember to clean up after your pet.  Paper towels, bags, etc. are provided, just ask.

QUESTION- How long will I have to leave my dog there?
ANSWER- Most grooming takes approx. under 2 hours to complete, so please plan to leave your pet for about that long. There are several variables that affect the amount of time your pet will be our guest,  such as the coat condition, length and texture of your pet’s hair, the size and behavior of your pet, etc.  I do my best to schedule the appointments by staggering the IN times so that I am able to begin working on your pet immediately.  As a result of those staggered IN times, the amount of time your pet is here is reduced.  We will call you as soon as your pet is ready, or almost ready, so he/she won't have to be here any longer than necessary.  However,  I cannot guarantee a set amount of time; all time quotes are estimates.   l like to take my time to do a beautiful job, and your pet will remain more relaxed if he/she does not sense we were in a rush, so please allow us all the time we need to do the job right. Thank you!

  •  Why don't you quote an exact amount on the phone?

Without seeing your pet, or sometimes even after meeting your pet on the initial visit,  a groomer is not always able to be sure of what blades will get through certain types of coats, what condition the pet's undercoat is in and what type of temperament the pet has. All these factors play a part in pricing, along with what type of style can be done on the pet versus what the owners prefer.
In order to do a long style the pet has to be completely brushed out.  This can be time consuming and expensive, and regardless of how gentle the groomer, it definitely takes a toll on your pet.
If a pet is deemed to need extensive dematting,  the safest and most painless way is to clip the pet down short and start all over again.   After which,  the owner can maintain the pet with proper brushing at home in between grooms.
Extra fees may have to be applied to the extra time taken to clip down a pet
because of matting or behavior and/or for a longer hand scissor style.
So without seeing your pet, or on the first visit,  not knowing the real underlying condition of the coat, and/or  your pet's temperament, one can only estimate the cost.
Also, while many owners insist they brush their pets regularly; and let me say, I do believe this to be true; I have also learned that "home" brushing" is usually superficial and is rarely adequate to keep the coat dematted.
While the coat may feel light and fluffy on top, once a professional gets down into the undercoat, that is where the problems arise with coat that has, over time, matted down in various areas on to the skin.
Believe me, no groomer ever WANTS to shave off your dog's coat.  It is much more to our advantage to work out the coat and put a beautiful haircut on your pet. Not only does it show off your pet, but, repeat visits are scheduled on a regular basis to keep your pet in top condition and looking beautiful. A wonderful benefit for all concerned.
So, when a groomer explains that the coat has been "lost" and is beyond brushout, you must understand that the welfare of your pet is the main concern, always.
Beauty should not be painful.  Heed the groomer's advice for the groom and trust that you are doing the right thing for the health and happiness of your pet.  ♥

  •  When should my puppy have its first professional grooming?

After your pup has had two sets of vaccinations. Grooming for a pup should start as soon as possible,  this helps to let the pup become acquainted with the sounds of the salon environment, noises such as dryers, clippers, other dogs etc.  For a pup's first grooming, I  may not be able do a Full haircut. All good things in time.  Grooming should be an enjoyable experience for your pup AND me!  That requires time and the trust of your pet.  As with everything in life, trust is the basis for building a wonderful relationship for many years to come!
